Measuring Blood Glucose at Home | The Steps
The steps for measuring glucose:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol wipe passes over the injection site. Let the area dry.
2. Click the site (the finger, for example) with the lancing device to obtain a drop of blood.
3. Gently squeeze the finger or give a massage until a drop (or the number you require your meter).
4. Place and hold the edge of the strip to the drop of blood and wait for the result.
5. Your level of glucose (sugar) appears on the small screen of the meter.
Little by little you will go and you do get used quickly and effectively. But problems can arise.
If you can not get the amount of blood needed
- Place your hands under running hot water and rub them together.
- Let your hand hang below the waist.
- Lightly tighten the injection site for 3 seconds.
- Put your finger on a firm surface to avoid moving the hand while you give the prick
- Regulate the depth of the lancet. Increase it if necessary.
- Use a new lancet each time you measure your glucose.
To avoid the sting hurts too much, decreasing the depth of the lancet pricks and gives the sides of the fingers instead of the yolks. Try to sample other areas of the body such as the forearm or thigh.
