Malnutrition is a common problem in dialysis patients and is associated with a worse prognosis in terms of survival and a higher frequency of complications. The causes that give rise to multiple, but experts say it is not a simple malnutrition due solely to a lack of intake, but it involved the fact that chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dialysis was associated with increased catabolism and wasting calories and protein (protein-caloric wasting).
